Sometimes when Barcode Magician 1.7 is installed on an older version of MET/TRACK, version 7.1 to 7.2, the Crystal Report runtime DLL's are re-installed as part of the installation, which is controlled by the Installshield program. Fluke uses a slightly different version of the Crystal 10 Runtime than what is loaded in the Barcode Magician application. There is a simple fix. Download the service patch from the On Time Support web site at http://files.ontimesupport.com/cr10win_en_sp6.zip.
There is sometimes an issue with the Crystal Reports installation from Barcode Magician and MET/TRACK. However it is an easy fix. The steps are: 1. On the server (or standalone machine) locate the Client directory under the MET/CAL directory. This Client directory is where you install new MET/TRACK clients from. 2. There is a directory called crys_en. Go to this directory. 3. There is a Setup program for installing the Crystal Reports support files. Run this setup program and it will install those files. You should have administrator privileges for this machine. 4.
When this error occurs, this means that the Windows registry is not allowing the BCM Workstation configuration program to save the program configuration to the registry. This is usually a permissions issue. The corrective action is to have the IT department reset permissions on the following OTS keys in the registry using regedt32.exe :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareOn Time SupportBarcode MagicianWorkstation
Set the On Time Support entry and its children to Full Control and the Work station configuration program should save data.
This problem has occurred before because a VB script DLL was not registered properly. Make sure you have admin permission on the machine and access the DOS command window. You can get to the command window by clicking START | RUN and then type CMD and press enter. At the prompt enter: regsvr32 vbscript.dll and press enter. If you have a problem with this you should contact your IT dept.
The problem is usually the tab order. Make sure the tab order is properly set for each entry form. If the tab order is not set, BCM may encounter a field without a tab and it will stop populating the screen. Sometimes this occurs when a new field is added and the tab order is not set. This must be configured by the database admin.
The latest release of Barcode Magician 1.7 supports Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7. The applications are installed in the client machine and do not store information in the PC Registry. Memory requirements are really based on the OS. Most standard installations work fine with Barcode Magician. Barcode Magician will require less than 50 MB of drive space.
